Before laser hair removal

  • Do not pluck the hair or remove it by methods like waxing or threading for at least 1 month before the procedure.
  • Avoid sun exposure on the area for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
  • Use a good sunscreen as directed by the doctor.
  • Trimming or shaving the hair on the lasered area should be done the day before your appointment.
  • Bleaching should be stopped six weeks prior to your first appointment.
  • Inform the doctor about regular medications taken, if any as many medications may interfere with the procedure.
  • Use soap and water to cleanse the area prior to treatment.

After Care

  • All hair is temporarily disabled during each treatment, none of the hair follicles are removed hence, a sequence of treatments is necessary in order for results to become apparent. The number of times needed also varies from person to person.
  • Slight redness and swelling lasting a few hours is common.
  • In rare cases, discomfort or small red bumps may last up to two days.
  • It is strongly recommended to use sunblock SPD + 30 for 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Do not irritate the skin by scrubbing, exfoliating, or taking hot water showers for 24 hours.

Contraindications

It is not recommended to use laser hair removal if :

● you are pregnant

● Have Skin disease, skin cancer, or a history of skin cancer or any other type of cancer

● suffers from bad scars, collagen disorder or keloid formation

● Varicose veins or vascular ectasia

● Skin sensitivity to light and sensitive to allergic reactions.

● Infections, eczema, burns, inflamed follicles, wounds, abrasions, or bruises in the areas that are going to be treated

● Epilepsy with sensitivity to blinking light

● Diabetes, lupus erythematosus, porphyria or a congestive heart disease

● Any blood disorder.

DO NOT treat with pulsed light if you are taking any of the following medications:

● Isotretinoin in Accutane® or Roaccutane® in the last six months, because it leaves the skin more sensitive to scratches and irritations.

● If you have recently treated or treated with alpha-hydroxides (AHA), beta-hydroxides (BHA), topical isotretinoin and azelaic acid.

● Analgesics

● Medications that produce photoallergic or phototoxic reactions or medications that recommend avoiding sunlight.

● Blood thinners or take aspirin regularly within the past week.
